Dhaka WASA rejects TIB report

Dhaka Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (DWASA) has rejected the research report done by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) that said 91 percent clients of the WASA have to boil water before drinking.

The Managing Director of Dhaka Wasa Engineer Taksim A Khan on Saturday rejected the report terming it a low-standard quality report.

“It’s not a professional research report. It didn’t collect data in scientific way, Taksim said at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity.

Earlier, on Wednesday, TIB unveiled a study that claimed that 51.5 percent of consumers in Dhaka said that the water supplied by the state-run utility company is contaminated.

Furthermore, 41.4 percent said the water was stinking while 34.5 percent said the water was both contaminated and stinking throughout the year, the study said.

The study was carried out using samples collected between April last year and March of this year from residential, commercial, industrial and slum areas under 10 WASA zones.
