Hartal underway amid tight security

The 24-hours hartal enforced by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is underway amid tight security across the country.

Jamaat-e-Islami called countrywide hartal for Thursday protesting at the execution of its Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami.

The hartal started at 5am on Thursday which will continue till at 5am on Friday.

However, additional police were deployed at the different parts of Dhaka following the hartal.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Sheikh Maruf said, they are prepared to control any untoward situation.
