DUCSU VP Nur postpones sit-in till Monday
The Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haq Nur has postponed till Monday noon the sit-in programme that was enforced following the alleged attacks on a student by Chhatra League.
“New programme will be announced if the punishment is not be ensured within this time against those who are the responsible for the attacks,” Nur told the reporters in front of the Raju Memorial Sculpture on Wednesday.
The demonstration of the students, which was scheduled to be held at the same place, was also postponed, Nur said.
Nur postponed the programme after he met DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman in today’s morning.
About the meeting, he said, the trust is created as we have postponed the sit-in programme.
Earlier, the activists of Chhatra League reportedly beat up a residential student named Farid Hasan at Salimullah Muslim Hall of the Dhaka University Monday night for contesting the March 11 election to the hall union as an independent candidate.
Chhatra League activists also reportedly attacked protesters and confined DUCSU Vice President Nur and social service secretary Akhtar Hossain Tuesday afternoon when they went to the hall to meet the provost demanding justice for Farid.
