3-day ultimatum given to hold re-election to DUCSU

The student bodies except Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal on Wednesday gave a three-day ultimatum to the vice chancellor of Dhaka University to declare a fresh schedule to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.

The panels of the leftists, independents and quota reformists, who boycotted the election together, handed a memorandum to VC Prof Akhteruzzaman at his office.

Earlier, they brought a procession that paraded through the campus chanting slogans and staged a short protest in front of the Registrar Building.

“The authorities must declare a fresh schedule by Saturday. They must withdraw the false cases filed against us,” said Faruque Hossain, a panel leader of the quota reformists.

Earlier on Monday, quota reform movement leader Nurul Haq Nur was elected vice-president in DUCSU election.

Chhatra League General Secretary Golam Rabbani won the post of General Secretary and Saddam Hussain Assistant General Secretary.
