AL leader held with gun at HSIA

The Aviation Security Force (Avsec) detained an Awami League leader with a gun at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday.

The detainee was identified as Mehedi Masud Hossen, a general secretary of Chowgacha upazila Awami League in Jashore. 

Wing commander Abdullah Al Faruk, director of Hazrat Shahjalal International airport, confirmed the matter.

On March 5, actor Ilias Kanchan passed through the first phase of airport security with a firearm.

Two days later, Civil Aviation Ministry claimed that Ilias Kanchon was telling lies while blaming the airport staff’s failure for detecting his pistol during security checking at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shajalal International Airport.

On February 24, a young man was killed in a commando action after he attempted to hijack a Boeing after boarding it with a toy gun from the HSIA.
