AL lawmaker Molla acquitted in graft case
The lawmaker of ruling Awami League Habibur Rahaman Molla has been acquitted in a corruption case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge Joynal Abedeen of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-10 passed the order on Thursday.
The court acquitted him as he was not found guilty in the case.
Molla didn’t appear before the court due to his illness. His lawyer sought time but the court passed the order rejecting his appeal.
Lawyer Syed Mizanur Rahman appeared before the court for Molla while Public Prosecutor Golam Haider represented the ACC.
The ACC on Oct. 3, 2007, sued Molla on charges of illegally amassing assets worth Tk 2.32 crore and concealing wealth-related information from the commission.
Syed Ahmed, Assistant Director of the ACC, filed the case with Ramna Police Station.
