Sultan Mohammad Mansur, who was elected from Moulvibazar-2 constituency area with the symbol paddy of sheaf, has taken the oath as a member of the parliament.

Speaker Dr Shishin Sharmin Chowdhury administered the oath taking ceremony at Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday at 11 am.

Senior Secretary of the parliament Dr Jafor Ahmed Khan conducted the ceremony.

Among others, Deputy Speaker Fajle Rabby Miah, Chief Whip Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury, Whip Iqbalur Rahim were present.

Mansur was elected MP from Moulvibazar 2 seat in the December 30 elections as a Gono Forum candidate under Jatiya Oikyafront platform, with BNP's electoral symbol, while Mokabbir was elected from Sylhet 2 constituency with Gono Forum's symbol.

BNP, Gono Forum and some other parties joined the December 30 elections in alliance under the banner of Jatiya Oikya Front. BNP bagged six seats while Gono Forum won two.

The alliance rejected the election results, alleging that a “massive vote robbery” had taken place during the polls, and demanded re-elections.

The first session of the new parliament began on January 30 without the participation of the eight MPs-elect.
