Burnt bodies of 2 infants recovered from Bhashantek slum

Firefighters recovered the charred bodies of two infants as they died in a slum fire in the capital’s Bhashantek area on Thursday at 12:15 pm.

The deceased were identified as Yesmin, three months old daughter of Nure Alam and Tonmoy, two and half years old son of Chunnu Miah. 

Inspector of Fire Service Headquarters Shahjahan Shikder confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

Mirpur fire station’s officer Kutub Uddin said the fire broke out at the shanty around 1:30 am and spread around soon.

On information, 21 firefighting units went to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 3 am. Later in the day, firefighters recovered the two charred bodies, he added.
