The High Court (HC) has directed to pay the salary to the trained and non-trained head teachers of government primary schools in 10th grade of the 8th national pay scale.

The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Khijir Ahmed Chowdhury on Monday passed the order after hearing a rule issued regarding the matter.

The court asked to make this order effective from March 9, 2014.

After the verdict, petitioners’ lawyer Salauddin Dolon told reporters that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 2014 promoted the rank of primary school headmasters to second class. But the concerned ministry fixed the entry scale for trained headmasters to 11th grade and 12th grade for the headmasters without training. But the second class officials working in different ministries and departments get salary as per 10th pay scale.

A total of 45 teachers filed a writ against this and the High Court on March 5, 2018, issued the rule.

The court came up with today’s order after holding final hearing on the rule.
