32 ‘grenades of Liberation War’ found in Khulna
A total of 32 grenades, suspected to have been used during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and buried underground, were recovered at Paikgacha upazila in Khulna on Sunday morning.
After being informed about the matter, a bomb disposal unit of police was going to spot to recover the grenades.
Emdadul Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Paikgacha Police Station, said workers found the grenades while digging a shrimp girth of Abul Kalam of Loskor union in the upazila at 10:15 am. Villagers thought these were grenades and informed the police.
Later police rushed to the spot and they informed the bomb disposal unit to recover the grenades, the OC added.
