Remove electricity poles from roads: HC
The High Court (HC) has directed the authorities concerned to remove within 60 days the electricity poles from the roads and highways, which obstruct people’s movement across the country.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order on Thursday after hearing a writ petition.
The secretaries to the Road Transport, Electricity and Mineral Resources, Electricity Development Board chairman and the authority of Power Development Board were asked to implement the order.
Barrister Sayedul Haque Suman, a Supreme Court lawyer, on Wednesday filed the petition with the HC seeking its directive on the government to remove the poles.
Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman appeared before the court for the state.
