Ragging: 6 suspended students sued under ICT Act

The authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) have filed a case against six suspended students for publishing a video on Facebook after ragging two first-year students. 

University’s Agriculture Department Assistant Professor and also the Assistant Proctor Dr Nazmul Haque filed the case against them with Gopalganj Police Station under the ICT Act on Tuesday night.  

Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gopalganj Police Station, confirmed the case to Jago News.

Students

Earlier on Monday, the authorities of the university suspended six students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department for ragging.

They are: Md Shipon Ahmed, from Keraniganj, Dhaka; Md Shahin Mia, from Araihazar, Narayanganj; Nadim Islam, from Nagarpur, Tangail; Hridoy Kumar Dhar, from Nakla, Sherpur; Turzo Howlader, from Bhola sadar upazila; and Ashiquzzaman Limon, from Madhukhali, Faridpur.
