Ctg doctor’s suicide: Wife placed on 3-day remand

A Chattogram court today placed Tanzila Haq Chowdhury Mitu, wife of Dr Mustafa Morshed Akash who committed suicide on Friday, on a three-day remand, reports BSS.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Al Imran passed the order following Abdul Kader, assistant sub-inspector of Chandgaon thana also investigation officer, sought a seven-day remand on Saturday.

Akash’s mother Jobeda Khanam filed the case with Chandgaon thana on Friday night accusing Mitu and five others on charge of provoking her elder son Akash to commit suicide.

Mitu, also a doctor, was detained by police from a residence of her cousin in DC hill area in the city around 12:30 am Friday.

Police also confiscated cell phones of Mitu and Akash for investigation.

Akash, 33, allegedly killed himself over family feud in Chandgaon residential area in the city after an altercation with his wife about her alleged illicit affairs early Friday.
