5 held with spurious medicine in capital
Police on Saturday arrested five persons along spurious medicines of different companies and raw material for producing those from the city’s Jatrabari area, reports BSS.
“We arrested five persons for their involvement in conducting trade of spurious medicine from Jatrabari area on Saturday,” additional police commissioner (Detective Branch) Md Abdul Baten told a press briefing held at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media centre here this morning.
Police personnel also seized some stuff including printer machine, container of various colour, price tag, seals of different companies, 300 pieces of 5ml water bottle of Jayson Company, 84,000 pieces of sex stimulating capsule, 65 pieces of Actrapid 10ml insulin, five pieces of 30ml Mixtard insulin, 1625 empty bottles of G Pethedine injection, one air hot gun, a small sack of plastic tray of G Pethidine Injection of Gonoshastha Pharmaceutical and fuel paper inscribed with Alat of Premier Pharmaceutical Limited from their possessions.
The arrestees, Md Abdus Sobhan, Md Naimur Rahman alias Tushar, Md Riazul Islam alias Mridul, Nargis Begum and Md Wahid have long been involved in cheating people by producing medicines of famous companies of the country he also said.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed their link to producing the spurious medicines using their own technology, Baten said, adding that they also sold expired medicines with using new batch no, price tag and production and expiry date.
The police official has requested all to purchase medicines from renowned pharmacies as the arrestees used to sell their produced spurious medicines in local and low category pharmacies.
Legal action was taken to this end.
