4 killed as microbus falls into ditch in N’ganj

Four people were killed when a microbus lost its control and fell into a road-side ditch in Narayanganj early Sunday. 

The incident took place at Bhairabertek area of Jampur union in Sonargaon upazila of the district. 

The deceased were identified as Momen, 42, Shahidullah Mokter, 45, microbus driver Raju and local Awami League (AL) leader Ripon, 40. All were the inhabitants of Araihazar upazila in the city. 

They were returning to Araihazar by a microbus from the victory celebration rally of AL held in Dhaka. At one stage, driver of the microbus lost control over the steering and fell into a road-side ditch in the area due to the severe fog, Morshed Alam, officer-in-charge of Sonargaon Police Station. 

On information, members of fire service rushed to the spot and recovered four bodies from the spot at 11:30am. Relatives of the deceased took away the bodies to their respective houses without informing the police, the OC added.
