Quader for completing road maintenance works before rainy season

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today asked the authorities concerned to complete road maintenance works before rainy season.

“The ongoing road construction works needs to be completed within the scheduled time by maintaining quality,” he told a meeting in the conference room of the ministry in Dhaka.

Secretary of Road Transport and Bridges Division Md Nazrul Islam, Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Ibne Alam Hasan, Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Md Moshiur Rahman and Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan, among others, were present at the meeting, according to BSS.

Quader said, “We have recovered occupied roads and highways removing illegal establishments and floating markets…..We have to complete the initiative for recovering illegal structures for ensuring smooth road communication system.”

He said communication systems in CHT areas should be built so that the tourism sector can flourish in the region. Four lane road construction works on Elenga-Rangpur highway at a cost of Taka 12,000 crore are going to start from next month, Quader added.

He said, “The construction work of four lane roads on Joydebpur-Elenga highways are nearly complete…. The four-lane roads on Joydebpur-Elenga will be opened after its construction in June.”
