BNP-Jamaat men among 59 detained in Rangpur

Police in a separate drive detained four activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir and BNP, among 59 persons, on various charges from different parts of the Rangpur on Wednesday night.

Of them, police detained Shibir activists Zahidul Islam, 30, and SM Alam Panna, 28, Jamaat worker Mohammad Faruk, 26, and BNP activist Abdul Baten, 55, from different areas under sadar and Pirgachha upazila.

The detained Jamaat-Shibir and BNP activists had been absconding for a long time and they are accused in different cases in connections with hurling petrol and cocktail bombs, arson, attacking policemen and committing other crimes in recent times.

Besides, police arrested more 55 persons, including absconding accused persons of different cases, warrantees, muggers, drug traders, anti-social elements and suspicious people.
