3 children drown in Lalmonirhat

Three minor children drowned in a pond at Taluk Mrittika village under Sadar upazila in Lalmonirhat on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were Mim, 11, Kusum, 8, daughters of Abdul Motin Mintu and Nayem, 10, son of Iqbal Hossain of the village. All of them were students of Taluk Mrittika Government Primary School.
The three children drowned when they went to the pond of one Altaf Ali around 2pm for taking bath, family sources said.
Local people recovered their bodies from the pond around 3.30pm.
Shafikul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Lalmonirhat sadar upazila visited the spot.
