No culprit will be spared, Quader on Noakhali gang rape

About repression and rape of a woman at Subarnachar in Noakhali, Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said it is a punishable offense. No culprit will be spared.

He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at his secretariat office on Wednesday.

"I’ve already talked to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on this issue. The DIG has visited the spot,” he added.

Earlier, outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla called on Quader at his office, according to a news agency.

About the reason of unprecedented defeat of BNP in the polls, Quader said, “Politics is like tide and ebb. Tide is not permanent. There is no reason to think that the tide of Awami League will last forever. But it will depend on our activities whether the tide will be there or not.”

He said, “Our challenge is to implement our promises made in the election manifesto. We got victory. Now, we have a big responsibility and the countrymen have a big expectation from us.”

Regarding the movement of BNP, the AL leader said, “They are talking of movement over the last 10 years. If they want to launch any movement, then it will be faced politically. The law enforcement agencies will take necessary steps, if anyone tries to create anarchy in the name of movement.”
