Police bring Malibagh situation under control

The situation in the capital’s Malibagh was brought under control, police said.

The agitating workers withdrew the road blockade around 6:40 pm.

Garment workers took to the streets when a Gazipur bound bus of Supravat Paribahan ran over the two garment workers Nahida Parveen and Meem while they were crossing the road near Abul Hotel at 1:30 pm. Of them, Polly died on the spot and Meem was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as she was injured seriously where doctors declared him dead.

Hearing the news, the agitating workers also vandalised 40 vehicles and torched two others on DIT Road in Chowdhury Para protesting the accident.

Police seized the bus and arrested the driver.
