PM hands over Rokeya Padak

Begum Rokeya Padak has been handed over to five prominent women for their outstanding performances in women empowerment in the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the award to them at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday morning.
This year, former state minister of Women and Children affairs Jinnatunnesa Talukder, Professor Jogra Anis, Shila Roy, Roma Chowdhury (posthumous) and Rokeya Begum got the award.
Each of them received a certificate, a gold crest, and a Tk 200,000 cheque.
However, Begum Rokeya Day is being observed today across the country with due respect.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages today on the occasion of ‘Begum Rokeya Day 2018’.
