Appeal against nomination rejections begins

The polls aspirants whose nomination forms have been rejected can file appeals with election commission (EC) to get their nomination validated from today, reports BSS.

“The aggrieved candidates can appeal to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) from today to December 5 while the EC will act as appeal authority,” joint secretary of EC’s election conducting division Farhad Ahmed Khan told BSS today.

The CEC leading an appeal authority will give its decision after hearings on pleas on December 6, 7 and 8, he added.

Earlier, EC Helal Uddin Ahmed told newsmen if aspirants aren’t satisfied with the decision of appeal authority, then the aggrieved persons can also go to the court.

The returning officers on Sunday rejected 786 nominations forms while 2,279 candidates declared qualified across the country for vying in the upcoming parliamentary election slated for December 30.
