No meeting, rally at Ijtema ground till nat’l polls: Kamal
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said in line with the directives of election commission, nobody will be allowed to hold any meeting, rally or gathering for the preparation of Bishwa Ijtema at the Ijtema ground at Tongi in Gazipur till the parliamentary election slated for December 30.
“The ground will be kept under the control of the administration for a month until the parliamentary election. The date for holding the Bishwa Ijtema will be announced after the election,” he told newsmen after a meeting with leaders of two groups of Tabligh Jamaat at the ministry conference room, reports BSS.
The minister held the meeting following a clash between the two groups of Tabligh-Jamaat.
Bridge Division Senior Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, Public Security Division Secretary Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Religious Affairs Secretary Md Anisur Rahman, Inspector General of Police Dr Mohammad Javed Patwari, RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner M Asaduzzaman Miah, Maulana Farid Uddin Mas’ud and high officials of law enforcement agencies were present at the meeting, among others.
