Divisional, deputy commissioners won’t take part govt brief, directs EC

The Election Commission (EC) has ordered Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners not to take part any government brief.
The constitutional organization issued the directives ahead of upcoming national polls.
In this regard, EC sent a letter to the cabinet secretary to execute the order.
According to EC letter, the divisional commissioners of Dhaka and Chattogram and DCs of 64 districts have been assigned as the Returning Officers (ROs). They are now EC’s employee. They will not leave their current office without Election Commission (EC) permission.
The returning officers will scrutinise the nomination papers on December 2, the deadline for withdrawing of the candidacy is December 9 and election will be held on December 30.
