4.640kg gold seized at Shahjalal airport
Customs officials on Wednesday morning seized 40 pieces of gold bars weighing 4.640 kilogram worth about Taka 2.32 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city, reports BSS.
“We recovered 40 pieces of gold bars weighting 4.640 wrapped with black scotch tape besides seat no 45-B of a flight (BG-228) of the Bangladesh Airlines soon after it had reached at the airport around 8 this morning,” said deputy commissioner Othelo Chowdhury of Dhaka Customs House.
The estimated value of the seized gold bars is Taka 2.32 crore, he also said.
Legal action was taken to this end.
