HC orders to block porn sites

The High Court has ordered to block the country’s pornography websites for six months.

A bench of the High Court that comprised of justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury and Md Ashraful Kamal passed the order on Monday.

The court also issued a rule against the authorities concerned to explain in four weeks why pornography websites and publication of obscene materials should not be declared illegal. 

Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab who stood for the petitioners said the court ordered blocking of not only the porn sites but also any website containing indecent contents.

During the hearing, a survey of non-government organisation Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) was placed before the court which shows that 77 percent of school-going students of the capital are addicted to pornography.
