Arrest warrant issued against Barrister Mainul in Jashore

An arrest warrant has been issued against Jatiya Oikyafront leader and Barrister Mainul Hossain in a defamation case of Tk 9 crore filed by Jashore Mahila Sangstha Laizu Zaman.

Jashore Chief Judicial Magistrate Akram Hossain issued the warrant after taking the case into cognizance on Sunday.

Laizu’s lawyer Idris Ali said Barrister Mainul defamed journalist Masuda Bhatti on a live talk show of private television channel 71 on October 16. 

Mainul’s verbal attack on Masuda started right after she said that many were labelling him the Jamaat-e-Islami representative of Jatiya Oikyafront - as he recently attended an Islami Chhatra Shibir program - and asked whether it was true.
