Govt job seekers block Shahbagh for extending age limit to 35
A group of job seekers under the banner of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Parishad on Saturday blockaded Shahbagh intersection in the capital demanding to raise the age limit for recruitment in public service to 35 years.
Over 500 students coming from different colleges and universities gathered at Shahbagh intersection around 12pm.
They blocked intersection and chanting slogans to press for their demands.
On September 10, the parliamentary body recommended that the government can raise the age limit for entering civil service to 35 years.
Currently, age limit for entering the public service is 30 years, while retirement age is 59 years. Retirement age of freedom fighters is 60 years.
