10 killed, 20 injured in Panchagarh road accident
At least ten people were killed and 20 others injured in a road accident at Doshmile Bazar point on the Panchagarh-Banglabandha Highway under Sadar upazila in Panchagarh district on Friday night.
The deceased are Lavli, 29, her son Yeasin, 7, Rezaul, 22, Farid, 28, Anitta, 20, Rasel, 27, Laila, 25, Lutfor, 20, Mozammel, 38 and Monir, 10.
“The accident took place when a Banglabandha-bound bus of ‘Bhai-Bone Paribahan’ and a Panchagarh-bound electric pole-laden truck from Bhajanpur collided head-on around 7:45 pm, killing five passengers dead on the spot and 25 others injured,” said Officer-in-Charge of Panchagarh Sadar Thana Abu Akkas Ahmad.
Being informed, fire service and civil defence personnel from Panchagarh and Tentulia stations and police forces from Panchagarh Sadar Thana rushed to the spot, rescued all injured persons and sent them to Panchagarh Modernised Sadar Hospital (PSMH).
“Five of the injured passengers succumbed to their injuries at PSMH,” said on-duty physician at PSMH Dr Monwarul Islam.
High officials of the Panchagarh district and police administrations and local public representatives visited the spot and PSMH and directed the physicians for providing the best possible treatments to the injured persons.
