No security threat over Aug 21 grenade attack verdict: DMP chief
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia today said there is no security threat in the cases regarding August 21, 2004 grenade attack.
“The verdict in the August 21 grenade attack cases will be delivered tomorrow. No security threat has been received over the verdict and there is no scope to hamper security to this end,” he said in a scholarship giving programme among brilliant students at Rajarbagh Police auditorium here.
Describing the announcement of the verdict as a regular work of the court, he also said, “We are remained alert and monitoring the overall situation round the clock as none can hamper the security.”
He sounded a note of warning against anarchy saying, “Any form of anarchy will not be tolerated centering the verdict.”
The DMP chief assured the city dwellers of being secured, saying, “We have enough preparation to ensure safety and security to lives and properties of city dwellers with performing the lawful and constitutional duties in maintaining law and order.”
Among others, Additional Police Commissioner (admin) Md Shahabuddin Korashi, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC-Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md Monirul Islam and Additional Police Commissioner (traffic) Meer Rezaul Alam, were present on the occasion.
