Bangabandhu, Indira plant seed of Bangladesh-India friendship: Shringla

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla today said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had planted the seed of friendship between the two countries which continues till now, BSS reported.

“Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are continuing the friendly relation which was created in 1971 and it will last forever,” he said while speaking at a function at Farkkhaba Degree College in Sadar upazila in Chandpur.

Earlier, Shringla inaugurated the newly constructed Mahatma Gandhi Bhaban in the college.

Principal of the college Dr Mohammad Hasan Khan delivered the welcome speech with Awami League Central Committee’s Relief and Social Welfare Secretary and founder of the college Sujit Roy Nandi in the chair.

Lawmaker Dr Mohammad Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan, Zila Parishad Chairman Osman Gani Patwari, Awami League district unit President Nasir Uddin Ahmed and General Secretary Abu Naim Dulal Patwari, among others, addressed the function.
