43 held in Satkhira

Police, in special drives arrested 43 persons including two activists of BNP and an activist of Jamaat-E-Islami from eight upazilas of the district in last 12-hour ending at 8am this morning, reports BSS.

Police also recovered 20 bottles of Phensidyl and 21 pieces of Yaba tablets during the drives.

Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.

During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested nine persons and recovered 20 bottles of Phensidyl in an abandoned condition, Kalaroa Thana police arrested seven persons and recovered 21 pieces of Yaba tablets in an abandoned condition, Tala Thana police arrested four persons, Kaliganj Thana police arrested four persons, Shyamnagar Thana police arrested nine persons including an activist of Jamaat-E-Islami, Assasuni Thana police arrested seven persons including two activists of BNP, Patkelghata Thana police arrested two persons and Debhata police arrested one person.

The arrested people are accused in several cases, including charges of subversive activities, filed with different police stations in the district.

The arrested were sent to jail.
