Gold embezzlement: 3 cops sentenced to 5 years in jail

Three cops including a former Sub-Inspector of Rampura Police Station were awarded five years rigorous imprisonment in a gold embezzlement case.
Besides, a police informer was sentenced three years in prison in the case.
Dhaka Divisional Special Judge Mizanur Rahman Khan delivered the verdict on Thursday.
Anti-Corruption Commission Inspector Asikur Rhamna confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Earlier, the case was filed against two constables, a SI and a informer of police for misappropriating gold worth Tk. 7 crore weighted 17.4 kg.
The convicts are former SI of Rampura Police station Monjurul Islam, Constables Md Akash Chowdhury, Wahidul Islam and police informer Mahfuzul Alam Rony.
