2 suspected thieves beaten to death in Chattogram

Two suspected thieves were beaten to death by a mob at Siraj Colony in Gaurishankar Hat area of Raozan upazila in Chattogram on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Md Moktar, 27 and Md Saiful, 28.

Confirming the news, Sefatullah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raozan Police station said that they were trying to break into a house in the early hours on Friday but the women inside the house shouted after seeing them.

Upon hearing their shouts, locals rushed to the spot and saw the suspected robbers pointing arms towards the women, he said.

The locals started beating them up killing them on the spot, the OC added.

Police will send the bodies to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy after primary investigation.
