Liberation war heroine Roma Chowdhury, who was brutally tortured and violated by the Pakistani occupational army at her village in Boyalkhali of Chittagong during liberation war, has passed away.

She breathed her last at 4am at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) while she was undergoing treatment, said her book’s publisher Alauddin Khokon.

Freedom fighter Roma Chowdhury was shifted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of CMCH due to mineral imbalance on August 25.

She was also suffering from diarrhea which led to weakness, along with other old-age complications.

Writer of the book “Ekattarer Jononi” Roma Chowdhury, who graduated from Dhaka University, lost her husband and two children in the war of 1971.

Roma lost her other child in a road accident.
