Bangladesh is land of communal harmony: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister and General Secretary of Awami League (AL) Obaidul Quader on Sunday said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony as the people of all faiths are living peacefully, reports BSS.
“We have excellent relations among the people of different religions….they are practicing their respective religions peacefully,” he told a meeting on the occasion of the Janmashtami, one of the major Hindu festivals to mark the birth of Lord Krishna.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Dhaka Mahanagar Sarbajonin Puja Committee jointly organized the meeting.
Haji Md Selim, MP, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzamman Mian and President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Milon Kanti Datta and General Secretary Nirmul Kumar Chatterjee, among others, addressed the meeting.
Quader said BNP along with their communal forces launched oppression on the people with different faiths when the party came to power.
He urged the people of different religious beliefs to reject BNP-Jamaat led alliance for building a non-communal Bangladesh.
“Communal harmony is our great heritage”, Quader said mutual harmony and amity should be kept intact through maintaining mutual harmony by all.
