5 JMB men held with firearm in Rajshahi

A special team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five members of outlawed Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) with firearm, ammunitions and bomb-making materials from Char areas in Rajshahi and Chapainawabgonj districts on Thursday night.

RAB sources said the arrestees were identified as Aminul Islam, 32, Mosharraf Hossain alias Murshalin, 22, Ismail Hossain, 32, Rafiqul Islam, 40, and Abdul Matin, 40.

They were arrested for their suspected involvement in the activities of banned Islamic outfit JMB.

RAB-5 Deputy Commander Major Ashraful Islam informed this to local journalists here on Friday noon saying that the arrested persons are part of banned Islamic terror outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh or JMB.

On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted an overnight raid in the areas and arrested them from different places under Godagari Upazila and its adjacent areas under Chapainawabgonj Sadar Upazila.

The team seized one foreign pistol, four rounds of bullets, 200 grams of gunpowder, seven hand notes, four extremist propaganda books and other bomb-making materials from their possession. The arrested JMB members were handed over to police today.
