Father-in-law arrested over Pabna journalist murder

Police have arrested Abul Hossen, the father-in-law of journalist Suborna Nodi, who was hacked to death in front of her rented house at Power House para of Radhanagar area in Pabna on Tuesday night.

The arrest was made within the hours of killing following a complaint to the police from Chompa Khatun, sister of the victim that Abul Hossen is the ‘mastermind’ of the killing.

It is learnt that Suborna tied the knot with Rajib, the son of Abul Hossen. But, Rajib divorced her over dowry.

Following the divorce, Nodi filed a case accusing three including Rajib and Abul Hossen under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. The hearing in the case was held on Tuesday also.

On the other hand, no case was filed in the killing till the last report. Mother of the victim is preparing to file a case in the murder, said Pabna police station OC Obaidul Hoque.

Nodi, 32, was the journalist of private television Ananda Tv and local daily Jagrata Bangla.  

She came under the attack by some unidentified miscreants when she was returning to her home at 10:30pm.
