UNHCR official found dead in Cox’s Bazar

A UNHCR official who went missing on Monday last has been found dead in Sonadia Island of Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar.

Some fishermen recovered the body from the island while catching fish on Thursday morning. 

The deceased was identified as Soliman Muletar, a citizen of Ethiopia who used to live in a residential hotel of Kolatoli area in the district.  He had been working as a security officer of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Cox’s Bazar.

Additional Police Super Afruzul Haque Tutul, spokesperson of Cox’s Bazar police said that the Police were informed on Wednesday last that Soliman Muletar went missing on last Monday. 

On Thursday, some fishermen found a dead body at Sonadia Island that primary identified as Soleman Muletar, he said.

According to an investigation report, Soliman had an affairs with a colleague at UNHCR Dhaka office. Recently, the girl shifted in Cox’s Bazar. Then, they were going through a hostile relation. That’s’ why, Soliman used to see drunk. Primarily, it seems to us that he committed suicide through jumping into the sea, he added.
