War criminal Quddus gets 6-month bail

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has granted six months bail to convicted war criminal Abdul Quddus, who is said to be suffering from cancer.  

A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Thursday.

Quddus’ lawyer Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on March 13 convicted Quddus along with his three partners in crimes for their misdeeds during the War of Liberation in 1971 in Noakhali area. 

The tribunal sentenced Quddus to 20 years imprisonment, while his cohorts Amir Ali, Md Joynal Abedin and Abul Kalam alias AKM Monsur were sentenced to death.
