Joy kidnapping case: Shafik Rehman on fresh 5-day remand

A Dhaka court has granted a five-day fresh remand against senior journalist and presenter Shafik Rehman.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahmudul Hasan on Friday made the order in reply to a seven-day remand plea by Detective Branch (DB) of Police.

Earlier On 16 April, Shafik Rehman was arrested for an alleged attempt to abduct and murder Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT affairs adviser of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and put on five-day remand.

Investigation officers claimed that, they were found lots of new information from Shafik Rehman but the information is partial.

Investigation Officer ASP Hasan Arafat said He (shafik) needs to be interrogated further as we got important information from him. That is why, we are going to file the fresh 7-day remand prayer.

It is mentionable that, Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested journalist Shafik Rehman from his residence of Eskaton in the capital at 8 am on Saturday.
