Mahmudur Rahman attacked in Kushtia
Amar Desh acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman was allegedly injured by a group of men of Bangladesh Chhatra League in Kushtia on Sunday.
He came under the attack after the court granted him bail in a defamation case filed by district unit BCL president Yasir Arafat Tushar on 10 December 2017.
Mahmudur Rahman, who was granted bail by Kushtia Senior Judicial Magistrate MM Morshed, was first locked up inside the courtroom and then attacked after he emerged after 4:00pm.
On December 1, 2017, Rahman took part in a seminar on restoration of democracy and the role of media, organised by Bangladesh Democratic Council at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
He at the programme allegedly made derogatory comments about Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina.
Later, several cases were filed against him in different districts for making the ‘derogatory remarks.’
