Tight security to be beefed up in Dhaka’s cattle markets

Law enforcement agencies will take tight-security measures for the city’s 21 cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of police will work in co-ordination with Armed Police Battalion (APBN) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to ensure the tight-security arrangements in the cattle markets of Dhaka.

According to DMP source, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia will sit with lease-holders to avoid any untoward incidents and to ensure strict security in the cattle markets. 

Besides, the DMP commissioner is supposed to sit in separate meeting with local MPs and deputy commissioners of police of respective area.

In addition to awareness building documentary exhibition, control room, CCTV Camera and electric machine to trace fake notes will be installed at each of cattle markets in Dhaka as per DMP security plan.

DMP also formulated special instructions for lease-holder to ensure sound management in the markets area 

Seeking anonymity, a DMP officials said that any cowhide laden truck will not be allowed to go out of Dhaka for 4/5 days after Eid-Ul-Azha to avoid trafficking of cowhide. That’s why, a total of six check-posts will be set up at exit route of Dhaka.

On the other hand, RAB also taken security measures in the cattle markets. Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, RAB legal and media wing director said that a security plan has been taken to avoid any untoward incidents in the area. Temporary camps also will be set up in the city’s cattle markets.
