Investigation report to be published after full report: Muhit

The investigation report about the Bangladesh Bank’s reserve heist will be published after getting the full report said Finance Minister AMA Muhith.

The minister said this in replying to a question of journalists after inaugurating the Bangladesh wing of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a London-based multinational professional services network, in the capital’s Gulshan on Thursday.

Muhith said the investigation report will be made public two months later, after getting the full report of BB reserve heist scandal.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, the three-member probe committee, formed to investigate the country’s largest cyber scam, submitted a preliminary report on the issue to the Finance Minister.

Bank robbers made five transfers out of the Bangladesh bank’s account with the New York Federal Bank. The request appeared to come from a Bangladesh server, and they supplied the correct bank codes to authenticate the transfers, the New York Fed said.

Of the $101 million they stole, $80 million ended up in accounts located in the Philippines, and $21 million went to Sri Lankan accounts.
