Body of drowned university student recovered from Meghna

The body of a student of Notre Dame University Bangladesh, who along with another mate went missing in Meghna River at Char Sonarampur on Saturday, was recovered from rail bridge area of Ashuganj in Brahmanbaria on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Tanziba Binte Tanvir, 21, daughter of Tanvir Ahmed, hailed from Dhaka and a student of Computer Science and Engineering department of the University in the city. 

Mezbah Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Ashuganj Police Station, said seven students of the university went on a boat journey at Char Sonarampur on Saturday.

At one stage, two students-Tanziba and Ishrakul Mehrab went missing in the river while taking bath in the afternoon.

On information, divers of local fire service station in association with the members of Bangladesh Navy rushed in and started the rescue operation.

Later on Sunday morning, the body of Sanzida was found floating in the river around 11:30am.
