MPO process to begin soon : PM tells the House
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the government would take step very quickly for bringing the private educational institutions under monthly payment order (MPO) according to the MPO policy-2018.
The prime minister said this while replying to a question from Jatiya Party member Fhakrul Imam in the parliament during Prime Minister’s question-answer session, reports BSS.
The present government during its second tenure has brought a total of 1,37,546 teachers and employees of private educational institutions under the MPO, the leader of the house said.
For payment of the retirement benefit of the retired teachers and employees the government has allocated Taka 500 crore seed money in the year 2016-2017 fiscal year, she said.
The government also has given an one-time lump allocation of Taka 100 crore in the year 2016-2017 and Taka 150 crore in the last fiscal year, she added.
For the welfare trust of the teachers, the prime minister said the government allocated Taka 100 crore during the last two fiscal years and so far 82,400 retired teachers and employees were given Taka 1,265 crore from the trust fund.
The prime minister said teachers in private school and colleges are being recruited by Non
Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA).
Sheikh Hasina said the government has adopted the fourth phase of Primary Education
Development Programme (PEDP) at an estimated cost of Taka 38,397.16 crore for the period July 2018-June 2023 for quality improvement of the primary education.
Under the programme the prime minister said current curriculum of preprimary and primary
would be corrected and teaching-learning educational components would be supplied in all
schools and a total of 61,166 teachers would be recruited.
Under the PEDP (4th phase) programme, 65,000 teachers would be provided leadership training while 20,000 teachers would be given ICT training and 1.30 lakh teachers would be given training on English course through British Council.
