Police recovered the throat-slit body of a local Awami League leader from his pond at village Ghabhatia of Trishal upazila in Mymensingh on Wednesday.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Matin Master, 72, president of ward no 8 of Mathbaria union unit Awami League.

Locals spotted the throat-slit body of Matin in his pond and informed the matter to police.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the local hospital morgue, said Abdur Rakib, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Mymensingh.
