2 dies as dengue spikes in capital

Two persons reportedly died of dengue in the capital in last one week. 

Abu Sayed (44) died of hemorrhagic fevers at United Hospital in the capital on July 20. Another eight-year old girl Sayeba Tasrin died of Dengue shocked Syndrome Fever (DSF) on July 31 at Central Hospital in Dhanmondi, sources from Health directorate said.

Dr. Ayesha Akhtar, in charge of National Crisis Management Centre and disease control cell of Health directorate, confirmed the death to Jago News on Sunday afternoon.

On the other hand, the number of patients suffering from dengue is increasing in the country. some 22 patients have reportedly been admitted to different hospitals in the capital in last 24 hours. A total of 257 people have been found to be suffering from dengue fever from January 1 to July 2 this year, said Ayesha Akhtar.

She advised all should be very cautious and take preventive measures from mosquitoes as the rainy season is yet to be end.
