Met office predicts rainfall over country
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24 hours ending 9 am on Thursday.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions,” said a Met bulletin issued on Wednesday morning.
A few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions may see light to moderate rain and moderately heavy to heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today, the bulletin said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Southwest monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay while trough of low extends from Bihar to North-east Bay across Gangetic West Bengal and Southern part of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, a Met office warning message said, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary South or South-Easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur in the regions of Cumilla, Noakhali, Barishal, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khulna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Patuakhali, Madaripur and Sylhet.
River ports are advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.
The maximum temperature was recorded 35.2 degrees celsius yesterday at Nikli in Dhaka division while today’s minimum temperature 24.3 degrees celsius at Rangamati in Chattogram division.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 82 mm at Satkhira in Khulna division.
The sun sets at 6:50 pm today and rises at 5:14 am tomorrow in the capital.
