Speedboat sinks in Padma with 18 on board

A speedboat of Shamim Enterprise sank in Padma river with 18 passengers on board while it was heading towards Kathalbari speedboat terminal from Madaripur’s Shimulia on Wednesday.

The incident took place due to the sudden increase in the speed of wind.

Information on casualties couldn’t be known immediately. 

Confirming the news, Traffic Inspector of Kathalbari launch terminal Aktar Hossen said that the speedboat sank at 9.15 with 18 passengers on board while it was heading towards Shimulia launch terminal from Kathalbari speedboat terminal. 

The movement of launch were suspended since 9am on the day, he added.
